I like wearing sunglasses. When you're in a room and you put on sunglasses everything gets dark and it's hard to see... but then when you look at a window or something bright, the contrast is just incredible. I think that this should be the same way we view hard times in our lives. Don't concentrate on how the dark the bad things are, use the contrast to see what things are truly bright in your life and thank God for those things.
JUNE 10
This day has been a lot of ups and downs. Blah.

I have kept every card I have ever received. They are significant to me. Probably because I do not write many cards and attribute a lot of value to the ones I do write. Today I went to my brother's graduation from 5th grade.

At the end every student from the entire grade was assembled on the stage.

The teacher waved a hand.

The band started up and the instruments sounded like an adolescent boy's voice cracking.

They played for 10 seconds as the teacher looked hopefully at the silent class.

"Sing," said the teacher in a rough voice.

Instantly every kid broke out in "America the Beautiful".
JUNE 8
There were no clouds today. I wonder what that means.

Ára Bátur— 6:58-8:56 I finally met someone who has read The Wonderful Life of Henry Sugar and Six More without me suggesting it to them. Schuyler, you are awesome. Roald Dahl, you are also awesome.
