Comics 101: Lines

Simple lines are extremely important for the serious doodler. One line can make or break your piece.

For instance, man with glasses:

In My Head: Control

Sometimes, when I have time to sit and think, my brain goes a little stir-crazy an starts playing out random scenarios as if they were a movie... in my head.

Here is a snippet from a piece performed today:

"...and then the cloud in the sky was all, like, 'You can't control me', but I smiled and laughed because I had just learned the secret of CLOUD MIND CONTROL"

(yes, it was in caps in my head)

Online Videos

I am overwhelmed at how far online video technology has come in the last several years. 10 years ago I struggled to even post a 15mb video online without it getting pulled once a month for bandwidth restrictions (granted it was 2001 and I was 11 and was limited to what I could use for free).

Regardless of how you feel about Flash or H.264, you should be proud and happy to be living in a time when our videos are so easily shared with millions of people around the world.

I still think Apple is a tremendously under-valued company.

I am one of those people who leaves their blinker on for miles after they merge. I was trying to think of why I developed that habit when it struck me: it's because of automated blinker "turn-off" systems built into steering wheels! It may seem counter intuitive that something to help keep your blinker off keeps your blinker on more, but the instant you get used to your blinker turning off for you you don't think about it anymore. The solution seems obvious and I'm surprised no vehicles have added this: add a timer to the blinker and turn it off if it has been on for more than 7-10 minutes.

Time to get a new computer I think.

You have not lived until you've played outdoor laser tag in a suburb. It's like Modern Warfare in real life (but not as sad).

A Bit on Browsers

As a web developer I spend hours a day attempting to make my sites and scripts work consistently across all browsers and systems. It is hard and frustrating and from day one of building this blog I swore I would build it with the latest standards and leave it at that.

If this blog looks square and weird or the posts show in a single column, I'm sorry, but I don't care. Update your browser.

The web has so many wonderful things going for it, but that means nothing if people are still using browsers that don't update to support modern standards (Internet Explorer, I am looking at you).

The Blog

I like the idea of blogging, but I don't like the work it involves. Importing and uploading and writing. Blech. A blog should be easy and simple. Not a burden, but a benefit.

I am a very visual person. Sometimes I don't have words to say, only images or feelings to share. I wanted my blog to reflect that. I wanted it to be able to share my thoughts, even if those thoughts had no words.

This is my blog. It is not a tumblr or a wordpress or a blogspot. It is handcrafted to be exactly the type of blog I always wanted it to be.

I hope you like it. :)
